For a while, Ecotact has been working on a project titled “Iko-Yield”, one that has sought to manufacture green fertilizer from urine. (Details on this at a later date). This project has drawn attention from far and wide and has been nominated for the Humanitarian Water & Food Award.
WAFThe WAF award will recognise the most innovative, creative and sustainable projects that provides people in need with the basic necessities: water and food. It seeks to:
offer a Corporate Social Responsibility platform for corporations who want to bring their best to help empower the poor and the forgotten.
Raise awareness of what works
Encourage that all people enjoy clean water and food in abundance
Short-list 20 humanitarian initiatives that make a significant difference
The award event will be held in Copenhagen and promises an evening of hope, with live performances from recognized artists, high-profile keynote speakers and presentations of the nominated projects. All will tell the story – water and food for all.

Social innovation and entrepreneurship
The Humanitarian Water & Food Award is an example of social innovation and social entrepreneurship – one of the fastest growing sectors worldwide. WAF aims at creating social value through a unique mix of business, professionalism, volunteeriness and humanism. The association works cross-sector incorporating grassroots, individuals, government parties, business, NGOs, networks and relations.
